A breast lift in Nashville is a way to surgically raise sagging breast tissue for those who have had children or have simply been affected by time and gravity.
The mastopexy procedure is an effective way to provide an attractive and natural-looking lift to the breasts, creating flattering contours.
A breast lift is often performed alone but is also commonly done in conjunction with breast augmentation.
The best candidates for breast lift are women who are healthy and generally happy with the size of their breasts but discontent with their aging appearance (sagginess, lack of firmness). It is not recommended for those who expect to have more children, as pregnancy and breastfeeding may negate the effects of the surgery.
In addition, the procedure is best suited for women with small breasts, as larger, heavier breasts will become weighted down more quickly over time, even with a breast lift.
The best candidates for mastopexy surgery are women with realistic expectations. Looking over breast lift before and after photos is an excellent way to develop a good idea of your potential results.
Many women pair their breast lift with augmentation surgery. This procedure is known as a breast augmentation with lift, augmentation mastopexy, or a breast lift with implants. This allows for only a single recovery period, shortening downtime.
Getting a breast lift and implants improves volume and perkiness while reducing sag. Though a breast lift with implants can provide comprehensive breast enhancement, a breast lift without implants is the better option when no additional volume is requested.
I cannot possibly say enough wonderful things about Dr. Sarosiek! Deciding to have surgery was a major decision for me, and I was very nervous. From the moment Dr. Sarosiek walked into the room for the initial consultation, I knew he was the perfect surgeon for me. He is extremely knowledgeable and calmed my nerves right when he started talking with me. He does everything he can to take the absolute best care of his patients. On top of all that, the scars from my breast lift are barely visible, and I’m only 2 months out! It’s unbelievable, and I couldn’t be happier! I truly believe there’s not a better plastic surgeon out there!
I had consulted with several doctors – and after consulting with Dr. Moore – I felt comfortable with them as a team. Everyone was helpful, encouraging, and supportive. Those attitudes are so important to your recovery.

The most important part of your mastopexy consultation will be determining the final breast size and shape, as well as the new height of the nipples. You and the doctor will discuss expectations and goals, taking into consideration your overall body size and shape, your skin condition and your pre-operative breast size. You will also discuss your medical history and any allergies, medication or conditions you may have.
We have three Patient Care Coordinators who work closely with you through your entire time in our practice, serving as your resource for any questions or concerns you have along the way.
After your time talking to the surgeon, your Patient Coordinator will provide you with a detailed, written estimate of surgical fees for your procedure when you have your initial consultation at Cool Springs Plastic Surgery in Nashville, Tennessee. She will assist you in selecting a date for your surgery that is convenient for your schedule.
Your Patient Care Coordinator will also inform you about all payment options available in our office. Information regarding “Payment Options” are detailed under the “About” tab at the top of our web page.
It is important that you do not smoke or take aspirin or certain other drugs before surgery. We will let you know a suitable time period in which to abstain from these substances. We also recommend that you undergo a mammogram before the procedure.
Do not eat or drink after midnight on the evening before surgery (unless directed to take medications by your Patient Coordinator). Please shower the morning of your procedure, but do not apply deodorant, creams, lotions, powders or oil to your skin. Please do not wear jewelry or makeup, and do not bring valuables with you to surgery.
Surgery will be performed at a hospital or on an outpatient basis under local or general anesthesia. An adult should escort you on the day of surgery and remain with you at home for the first 24 hours.
During the procedure, incisions will be made around and underneath the nipple, as well as along the natural crease of the breast, outlining the area that will be removed. The exact technique and location of incisions, however, will depend on each individual case.
The nipple is moved higher on the breast and the incisions are closed pulling the breast tightly into place. We will then fit you with an elastic bandage to protect and support your breasts.
Afterward, you may sleep and rest in any comfortable position. Rest quietly for 24 hours following surgery; when you get up, do so slowly, as you may feel dizzy or lightheaded. You are encouraged to take short walks in your home and take frequent deep breaths.
Even though you will be up and about in a day or two, it is important that you limit your activity for optimal recovery. Expect to see some degree of temporary swelling, bruising and loss of sensation in your breasts. The wrap will be removed after a few days, at which time you may be asked to wear a support bra for several weeks. Make sure you do not take it off until notified by the doctor.
You may be able to return to work within a week, but avoid any heavy lifting, vigorous exercise or direct contact with the breasts for a few weeks, as this can stress the incisions and lead to complications such as delayed wound healing or prominent scars.
Though the results of the breast lift may last for years, time and gravity will eventually affect the contour of the breasts again, and you may decide to go in for another procedure. Consult with the doctor on what you can expect and what follow-up actions are recommended.
